The Trotting Club at Tairgwaith is a real community success story. It was formed in 1979 by a group of volunteers who wanted to provide a facility for local racing enthusiasts and the community to enjoy.

Two of the old coal mine sites proved an ideal location for their activities, and they created a track that attracts competitors and visitors from all parts of the UK and Ireland.

With the club still being run by enthusiasts on a not-for profit basis, the track is being continually improved.
