Watersports
Location:
There’s no shortage of water in Neath Port Talbot – rivers, canals, reservoirs and waves. So, needless to say there’s plenty of ways to get on and in it.
Nestled between the surfing staples of Porthcawl and Gower, and with a designated surfing area at the eastern end of the beach, Aberavon offers fun waves for beginners and intermediate-level surfers and during bigger swells, a steeper, more powerful ride for the more experienced.
The mile-long Eglwys Nunydd reservoir was created to supply water to the neighbouring steelworks, but its waters provide a safe environment for sailing and windsurfing. Anyone can join the Tata Steel Sailing Club – not just steelworkers – and it runs training courses at all levels, all year round.
