The Dramatic Heart of Wales is renowned for these foodie favourites that you simply can’t find anywhere else.

 

From newly opened cafes to irreplaceable classics – people just can’t get enough of Neath Port Talbot’s diverse and creative food scene.

 

A go-to for anyone visiting the area is the popular Ron Evans Pies. This family-run business, which was established in 1926, remains a firm favourite among people across south Wales producing much-loved pies, sausage rolls, bread and pasties.

 

Evans’ famous pies can also be purchased in almost every fish and chip shop across Neath Port Talbot, a testament to this long-established local favourite. And it even counts Welsh film royalty among its customers, with Sir Anthony Hopkins believed to have headed to the shop during a recent visit.

 

Burger connoisseurs on the other hand will love the newly opened Burger Boyz in Port Talbot town centre. This must-visit venue serves up a range of mouth-watering burgers, loaded fries, chicken fries and cheesy sides, along with a range of craft beers and even cheesecake!

 

While those with a sweet-tooth should head to That Doughnut Place in Glynneath, near Waterfall Country. The family-owned shop serves up amazing artisan doughnuts made fresh daily, with every flavour from Bueno to Crème Brulee and even Dough-nuggets on the menu. Thanks to its creativity and quality this shop has become a fast favourite.

 

But if you prefer your food with a quirky twist then why not try the newly opened Mine in Neath town centre. Not only is the food second to none, with a selection of burgers, small dishes starters and more to choose from, but you can even get your dish served on a small shovel!

 

Or for dinner with a view why not visit The Front on Aberavon seafront. This seaside restaurant is a go-to for anyone visiting the area, whether they’re enjoying a Sunday stroll or a family day out. Serving up a massive range of freshly made burgers, along with pasta, ribs, pies, ramen, kids meals and vegan options, it’s the perfect addition to any day out.

 

Cooking enthusiasts will love Frosty’s Organic Green Grocers in Pontardawe. This local shop sells a fresh range of organic fruit and vegetables, which are perfect for foodies looking to get creative and unleash their inner Jamie Oliver.

 

However, if you love nothing more than treating your tastebuds to a range of the very best Welsh produce, then you’re in luck! The hugely popular Neath Food and Drink Festival is returning in October with a generous serving of all the very best local producers!

 

From October 7th – 8th the town centre will be awash with more than 50 local food and drink stalls and exhibitors, with a range of food for people across south Wales to tuck in to!

 

The event will also give visitors the chance to try the town’s many cafes, restaurants, bars and shops serving up a delicious blend of local dishes.
