The Dramatic Heart of Wales

With summer well and truly underway there’s only one place to soak up the sunshine in Neath Port Talbot.

With its salty sea air, relaxing coastal path, and stunning sunset views Aberavon Seafront is worth a visit, whether you’re on a staycation or just enjoying a day out.

Its three miles of sandy coastline provide the perfect setting for a sunny stroll, a game of beach football, or a picnic with friends.

And parents can kick back and relax thanks the fully accessible Aberavon Aqua Splash along the seafront, which comprises over 30 water features including fountains and jets.

This free splash park is open daily 10am-7pm allowing little ones plenty of time to enjoy some water fun in the sun. The Aqua Splash also offers inclusive sessions every Wednesday between 10-11am, and equipment hire for little ones with additional needs, so everyone can enjoy a special day out.

And if that’s not enough entertainment for your trip to the seaside, the newly reopened Pirate Cove Adventure Golf can be enjoyed along the coastal path.

Whether you’re five or 99 everyone can enjoy this pirate-theme course, with 12 fun holes to enjoy. The fully accessible course also features sun cream stations to ensure you stay safe in the heat.

The course also features a fully stocked kiosk serving everything from locally made Gwynne’s ice cream in a variety of flavours, to freshly ground coffee from Welsh coffee chain Rosselli’s.

Families, including two adults and two children, can enjoy a game for just £15 and even get a discount if they play another round.

And those enjoying the beautiful coastline can be assured of a safe day out thanks to Aberavon’s own lifesaving RNLI, who have been saving lives at the seaside for 56 years.

After all that excitement it’s time to treat those rumbling tummies to a bite to eat at Aberavon’s hugely popular independent drive through and restaurant, The Front.

Opened in July 2021, the Front is just a short stroll from the coastline and offers an impressive range of popular starters, main meals and desserts for adults and children. Whether you’re craving a light bite or a filling lunch, the Front is on hand to satisfy all appetites.

The independently-run restaurant insists on only using the best local supplies including Castell Howell, Penderyn Distillery, Missy’s Bakery and Cwtch Bakery to ensure their meals are second to none.

And now you can dine alfresco whilst enjoying a refreshing drink in the sunshine in their newly refurbished outdoor garden area with stunning views of the seafront.

Aberavon offers an abundance of eating out options to suit all appetites, whether you want to pop to the coffee shop, enjoy a scoop or three of ice cream, tuck into some fish and chips, or treat yourself at a local bistro – there’s something for everyone.

So, whatever your plans Aberavon is the place to be!
