As the winter nights draw in, the Dramatic Heart of Wales transforms into a magical winter wonderland filled with festive events and activities.

From dazzling pantomimes to the glistening light trails, the Dramatic Heart of Wales offers an enchanting escape for those looking for festive fun.

Pantomime Extravaganzas

There is nothing quite like a pantomime at Christmas, especially in the Dramatic Heart of Wales’ beautiful theatres and venues. The Princess Royal Theatre in Port Talbot brings a touch of magic with this year’s pantomime “Pinocchio”, catering to both adult audiences on December 7th and 8th and families on December 9th. Pontardawe Arts Centre, presents a unique twist on “Jack and the Beanstalk” with their adult pantomime running from December 8th to 19th, alongside a family-friendly edition from December 9th to 18th.

For those too caught up in the Christmas rush to catch a Panto before the big day, the festivities continue into the new year at the Gwyn Hall in Neath. The famous “Jack and the Beanstalk” will be showcased from January 5th to 14th, 2024.

Festive adrenaline

As the year is slowly coming to an end, it’s the perfect time to tick off some last-minute goals. Lace up your running shoes and get your Santa hats ready for the Pontardawe Christmas Fun Run on December 17th. It’s the perfect event for exploring the Swansea Valley landscape and getting you  into the Christmas spirit.

To shake off the Christmas cobwebs, why not head to one of the longest beaches in Wales, Aberavon beach? With a 3-mile stretch of stunning sand to explore, it’s the perfect winter destination, just wrap up warm and enjoy a hot drink at Café Remos or La Membo Beach Bar once you have blown away the cobwebs.

Enchanting Events for families

Immerse yourself in the enchantment of the festive season at the Santa Deer Feeds at Margam Country Park. The castle terrace comes alive with the magic of deer feeding and visits from Father Christmas himself. Children can also become official helpers of Father Christmas at the Make Me an Elf Workshops.

Margam Country Park also lights up the Dramatic Heart of Wales with a spectacular light trail, with the return of Luminate this Christmas! With magical lighting, interactive fun for all ages, and tasty treats along the trail, Luminate is an enchanting journey through the historic grounds of Margam Park. Our beautiful, beating, ‘Heart of Steel’ installation forms part of the light trail this year, make sure to stop by to see the area from new perspective.
