Neath and Tennant Canals

The Neath and Tennant Canals offer a peaceful way to explore the rich industrial heritage and natural beauty of Neath Port Talbot. Once built to support early industries such as brick making and ship building, these waterways now provide calm, scenic routes perfect for gentle walks, relaxed cycles or quiet moments beside the water.

There are two canals in the county: the Neath Canal and the Tennant Canal. Each has its own story to tell, winding through leafy corridors, open views and stretches of tranquil water where wildlife thrives. Dragonflies are a regular highlight, darting and bobbing close to the surface as you make your way along the towpath.

Both the restored section north of Resolven and the Aberdulais Basin are accessible to disabled visitors, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the landscape.
