Art Venues and Theatres

Neath Port Talbot is Wales’s creative furnace. Something about the place inspires people to make beautiful things.

Neath Port Talbot has long been a place where creativity takes centre stage. Its theatres, galleries and performance spaces bring people together to enjoy everything from world‑class drama and comedy to live music, film, dance and community arts. The county’s venues each offer something unique, reflecting the character of their towns and the communities around them.

The Gwyn Hall in Neath is a lively cultural hub where you can catch everything from theatre and live music to the latest films. With several different screening spaces and a bright, airy café bar set inside its glass atrium, it’s a great place to relax before or after a show.

Pontardawe Arts Centre is at the heart of the Swansea Valley’s creative scene, offering a mix of cinema, comedy, dance, drama, exhibitions and live music. Its regular classes and workshops help bring people together and keep the arts thriving in the community.

The Princess Royal Theatre in Port Talbot, normally known for welcoming big touring productions and much‑loved local performances, is currently closed for major refurbishment. It’s due to reopen in early 2027 with a refreshed space ready for audiences once again.

Port Talbot’s Artwalk brings creativity outdoors, leading visitors through the town’s growing collection of colourful murals and public artworks. It’s a chance to explore the streets in a new way and see how local artists have made their mark.

Neath’s Queen Street Gallery adds even more depth to the area’s visual arts offering, showcasing a changing mix of work from established and emerging Welsh artists. Exhibitions, competitions and community‑focused creative spaces make it an inviting stop for anyone interested in art.
