By far the largest is Margam, set in 800 acres of rolling parkland. Formerly the Talbot family estate, the Tudor-Gothic Margam Castle gives a hint of the grandeur of times gone by. For those seeking relaxation, there’s quiet walks through its ornamental gardens or up into the rolling hills. But if you’re wanting adventure, the Go Ape! Treetop Challenge offers aerial thrills that include the UK’s biggest Tarzan Swing, while Margam Park Adventure runs a whole range of outdoor activities.
Gnoll Estate is a more low-key family park, that maintains many of the horticultural features from when it was owned by a wealthy industrial family. And the nature reserve at Craig Gwladus happens to be home to one of the world’s rarest types of millipede, discovered there in 2018.
