Visitors to the Dramatic Heart of Wales are in for a treat this Autumn: Neath Port Talbot is set to play host to a brand new comedy festival throughout September and October, welcoming international comedy stars of stage and screen.
Things to do:
The Dramatic Heart of Wales has long been known for its autumnal activities – riverside walks, pub dinners, bracing sea swims, daring mountain bike trails and sprawling country park strolls – yet this year, the area will add another attraction to its ever-growing list.
Stand Up for South Wales will run from 20th September – 6th October, with events taking place across Neath, Port Talbot and Pontardawe.
Comedy legends topping the bill include Rich Hall, Andy Parsons, Milton Jones, Ignacio Lopez, Hal Cruttenden and Kiri Pritchard-McLean. Fresh from international tours, Edinburgh Fringe shows and TV appearances on shows like Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News For You, Would I Lie to You and Mock The Week, the comedians range from rising stars to acclaimed performers.
Venues across the region will host evening and day events of non-stop laughter, with shows taking place across Resolven AFC Club, Afan Ales, Croeserw Social Clun, The Welsh House, Pontardawe Arts Centre, Neath Rugby Club and Gwyn Hall, to name but a few.
Budding comedians and writers can also take part in the scriptwriting sessions, and open-mic competitions, boosting creativity and encouraging accessible entertainment.
What’s more, there will be community events and workshops suitable for all ages ¾ perfect for families looking for ways to keep the kids entertained. Neath Castle will be transformed into an entertainment haven during the festival, offering child-friendly comedy sets, magicians, performers and workshops, all suitable for children aged 5 and over.
