Luminate Wales, a spectacular winter light trail, returns to Margam Country Park and Castle this winter.
Open until 31st December 2024, with special dog-friendly sessions on 2nd, 9th, 26th and 30th December, this enchanting experience will make your Christmas truly magical.
This family-friendly after-dark experience brightens up the darkest of winter nights, every day from 4.30pm to 8pm. The entire trail has been carefully re-designed for 2024, keeping some of last year’s highlights, while introducing amazing new surprises to make it bigger and better than ever before.
Explore the Magic of Margam
Follow the mile-long glowing light trail through the beautiful Margam Country Park and in the gardens of Margam Castle, a 19th-century Tudor Gothic mansion. Along the way, you’ll discover amazing light displays, projections, and art, with calming music setting the mood. The trail is full of fun, interactive spots where children can play and explore, making it an unforgettable experience for the family.
Festive Delights
As you wander through the trail, you’ll discover plenty of opportunities to pause, warm up, and indulge in festive treats. Begin your journey with comforting mulled wine or cider, and halfway through, refuel with vibrant street food at the café courtyard. From mouthwatering stone-baked pizzas, loaded nachos, gourmet hotdogs, mozzarella sticks and chocolate waffles — there’s something for every taste bud. You can also gather around the fire pits to toast your own marshmallows – the ultimate winter treat.
Accessibility
The trail is designed to be accessible for most visitors, with convenient parking and wide, permanent pathways. However, some parts may be challenging for those with mobility aids due to unavoidable steep inclines and declines. Carers accompanying visitors are welcome to enter free of charge. Toilets are situated in the car park (accessible), near the start of the trail, approximately a quarter of the way into the trail and at the cafe courtyard (accessible).
