Swansea Valley

The River Tawe flows from the Brecon Beacons in the north down to the sea at Swansea in the south, cutting right through the middle of the Swansea valley as it does so.

Running alongside the river in some places, and joining it in others, the Swansea Canal creates a pleasant route for walkers and cyclists alike.

Pontardawe is the cultural heart of the valley, with its arts centre putting on a packed programme of live music, comedy, dance, drama and children’s events, and the Oriel Lliw Gallery with rolling art exhibitions throughout the year.

The Pontardawe Festival takes place each August, showcasing live music from a range of genres and a traditional street parade.
